Heavy use laminate is not determined by its thickness. Laminate has a protective topcoat which is rated depending on how much usage it can take. A laminate flooring rated AC3 is suitable for medium use, AC4 is for heavy use and AC5 is for commercial use. Look out for our medium or heavy use icons on our laminate collections.
Not all heavy use laminate is moisture resistant, but some styles do offer improved protection against everyday spills. For rooms that are naturally more prone to moisture, like kitchens and utility rooms, our water resistant laminate is a brilliant option. We just recommend wiping up any spills as quickly as possible to prevent water from getting between the planks.
Fitting laminate flooring involves preparing the subfloor, laying the underlay, then clicking the boards together typically using a click lock system. It’s also important to leave an expansion gap around the edge of the room to allow for natural movement of the laminate planks.
