Click LVT floors don’t require underlay for installation, as they come with a built-in underlay that cushions and protects each plank or tile against subfloor damage. Dryback or glue down grey LVT is stuck directly to the subfloor, so this doesn’t need underlay either. Make sure to check the manufacturer’s instructions before installing your LVT for full details.
To clean your grey LVT flooring, simply sweep or vacuum any loose dust and debris first, then use a damp mop and a pH-neutral vinyl cleaning solution. Then, use a clean cloth to remove excess water, as moisture can damage your tiles over time. Steam cleaning isn’t suitable for LVT flooring.
Our LVT flooring care guide has everything you need to know about keeping your luxury vinyl tiles in perfect condition.
Luxury vinyl floor tiles have a special water resistant coating, so they’re a really practical flooring choice for bathrooms, utility rooms, and kitchens. However, there's a small chance moisture or water could sneak into the tiny gaps between the tiles, so while LVT is much more water resistant than engineered wood or laminate, if your kids like to slosh bathwater all over the floor you might be better off with water resistant sheet vinyl (also available in grey!).
