Kitchen LVT Flooring FAQs

Is LVT flooring good for a kitchen?

Absolutely! Due to its water resistance, versatile designs, and durability, you won’t find a better match for your kitchen than LVT flooring. Designed to be hardwearing, it copes effortlessly with the demands of busy family life and high‑traffic areas without sacrificing style.

Whether you’re contending with mucky pawprints or debris from making dinner, LVT kitchen flooring can handle it all.

Should you fit LVT before or after kitchen units?

Typically, click LVT should be fitted after installing kitchen units as it needs to be free to expand and contract, and kitchen units can restrict that movement. Glue-down LVT is fine to be installed before kitchen units as it is fully bonded to the subfloor.

Before you book in your kitchen fitting, drop into your local Tapi store and talk to one of our expert team about the best flooring for your kitchen.

How do I clean and maintain LVT flooring in my kitchen or utility?

To keep your LVT flooring looking its best, simply sweep or vacuum regularly, wipe up spills as soon as they happen, and give it an occasional clean with a damp (not soaking) mop and a mild detergent. With just a little routine care, your floor will stay looking as good as new.

See our LVT care guide for more tips and tricks!

Is kitchen LVT waterproof or water resistant?

LVT flooring is water resistant as there is a tiny chance moisture can get between plank joins to the subfloor below, or in the case of click LVT, through the expansion gaps around the edges. However, the surface is completely water resistant, so spillages will easily run off, and the floor will be simple to maintain and clean. That’s why LVT flooring is perfect for bathrooms and kitchens.
